Concerns raised regarding qualifications of proposed data center developers
Rural Hall, NC, May 5, 2026: Rural Hall Alliance is issuing this statement of concern for Forsyth County, NC residents regarding the lack of experience and qualifications of Drox Group LLC of Charlotte, NC and Montrose LLC of Huntersville, NC who are requesting to build an expansive hyperscale data center in Rural Hall, NC.
Any large-scale infrastructure project—particularly one as complex and resource-intensive as a hyperscale data center—should be supported by clearly demonstrated expertise and a proven track record.
At present, there is no publicly available information demonstrating these firms’ prior experience in data center project management, construction, or long-term operations. This lack of transparency raises legitimate concerns for the community, particularly as representatives of Montrose present plans and technical details for a project type in which they do not appear to have established experience.
Given the potential implications for local resources, infrastructure, environmental concerns, and quality of life, Rural Hall Alliance respectfully calls for:
- Public disclosure of the qualifications and data center development experience of the Drox Group LLC, and Montrose LLC including relevant project history and technical qualifications.
- Greater transparency regarding project leadership, experience, and planned ownership.
Rural Hall Alliance remains committed to supporting responsible economic development that ensures projects are undertaken with appropriate expertise, accountability, and community alignment including zoning regulations.
